Come and join us in prayer
Open to the public and Non-Aboriginal people of all cultures
Join Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Christian leaders from all across Australia who are gathering as part of the Grasstree Gathering to pray for our nation.
Many of you have heard Brooke Prentis and Aunty Jean Phillips say that we must come together as Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal Christians in prayer and at the foot of the cross. Many of you have heard of the many injustices facing Aboriginal peoples and the reality of the lack of closing of Close The Gap. As Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Christian Leaders gathering for the Grasstree Gathering we will be praying for our nation - praying for as Brooke says, "an Australia built on truth, justice, love and hope" - praying for much needed healing for Aboriginal peoples and for healing of relationship between Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal peoples in the spirit of Reconciliation.
We have selected the significant site at Kurnell. Kurnell is the site where Lieutenant James Cook came ashore on 29 April 1770. This is a significant site that changed everything for Aboriginal peoples. We will be holding a prayer gathering to reclaim the site in prayer with non-Aboriginal people invited to join us. Meet at the obelisk at Captain Cook's Landing Place.
If you have never been before you may wish to come earlier to explore the site and the area.
